Use DropBox
DropBox — Students
General InformationOverviewDropBox allows instructors, assistants, students, and staff to securely store and exchange files. Your instructors and assistants may choose to have you turn in assignments online using DropBox, and may distribute files to you as well. Use of DropBox is subject to applicable University and EEE Policies. Space limitationsStudents are allocated 50MB of space in their "MyFiles" folder. Any files uploaded to a class dropbox owned by an instructor or assistant do not count towards your 50MB quota. Ask your instructor to use DropBoxIf you think a dropbox would be helpful in your class and you'd like to ask your instructor to build one, download, print, sign, and give this short letter to your instructor. Download the dropbox request letter (pdf, 455 KB) The dropbox request letter tells your instructor:

Managing Uploaded FilesFile retentionFiles in your personal 'MyFiles' folder are available indefinitely, although you may lose access to them if and when you leave UCI. Class dropboxes have an expiration date determined by the dropbox's administrators. When the dropbox expires, all the contents are deleted. This includes all files uploaded to, and all folders created in, the dropbox. DropBox admins may also delete or move files, and change a dropbox's settings, which could remove your access. It is strongly recommended that you keep backup copies of your files elsewhere. For official information on EEE's policy for file retention, see Policy and Procedures: File Deletion/Retention. Rename filesUploaded files cannot be renamed in DropBox. To change the name of a file, you must rename your local copy, upload the new copy, and then delete the old copy. Share files with other studentsThe ability to share files with other students is determined by the instructor or authorized assistant for a particular class. This option may not always be available for all dropboxes.
When sharing files, always be aware of any applicable copyright limitations. For additional information, see Copyright Help & How-to.

CREATING A BACKUP OF YOUR DROPBOX FILESCreate a backup of your dropbox filesIt is a good idea to keep a backup copy of the files in your dropbox as a precautionary measure. EEE does not keep backups of dropbox files, so it is important that you make your own backups. Remember to delete backup files when they are no longer needed — Learn More Backing up dropbox files:
