Use Podcasts

General Information

Overview

Podcasts allows instructors and TAs to easily distribute UCI Replay recordings. The recordings can be published to classes, and a description can be added. EEE's Podcasts Tool uses recordings already uploaded to UCI Replay website. For more information regarding UCI Replay please refer to their website.

Using Podcasts

Access Podcasts

Access Podcasts from MyEEE:

  1. Sign in to EEE and go to your MyEEE page.
  2. Click Podcasts by the appropriate class.

You should now be in Podcasts.

Add a podcast

Podcasts uploaded to UCI Replay are automatically placed in your Podcast Library, but you may have uploaded some podcasts on external sites. You can add those podcasts to your Podcast Library so that you can publish them with EEE Podcasts.

  1. Make sure you are on the "Podcast Library" tab.
  2. Press the Add Podcast button.

  3. Enter the URL, title, description, and date of the presentation.
  4. Press Confirm Details.
  5. Review the settings and click Change if you need to change the information.
  6. Press Add Podcast.
Your podcast should now be available in the Podcast Library.

Publish a podcast

  1. Make sure you are on the "Podcast Library" tab.
  2. Click Publish next to the appropriate podcast.
  3. Select an audience and click Next ».
  4. Edit the title, and add a description(optional) and click Next ».
  5. Review the settings.
  6. Click Publish.
Your podcast should now be published.

Unpublish a podcast

  1. Make sure you are on the "Published Podcasts" tab.
  2. Select all the desired podcasts.
  3. Click Unpublish.
  4. Click Yes, unpublish.
Your podcast(s) should now be unpublished.

Edit a podcast

  1. Make sure you are on the "Published Podcasts" tab.
  2. Click Edit next to the appropriate podcast.
  3. Make the desired changes.
  4. Click Save Changes.
You have successfully edited the podcasts settings.

View a podcast

  1. Make sure you are on the "Podcast Library" tab.
  2. Click View next to the appropriate podcast.
You should now be viewing your podcast.

Troubleshooting

Why am I missing podcasts?

After recording with UCI Replay, an email will be sent to you automatically after encoding. You can log into http://encoder.oit.uci.edu/ to view encoding status. Only the person who submits the recording can verify the status. Once encoding is complete recordings are automatically posted to http://replay.uci.edu/ and then will be loaded on to EEE for you to publish.

UCI Replay presentations are published once an hour. MP3 presentations are typically encoded faster than the iPhone and Flash presentations. This means that the MP3 presentations may be visible on EEE before the other presentations. If you do not see the other presentations on EEE after encoding, please wait up to one hour for the other presentations to appear. Then if you still do not see the other presentations, please contact replay@uci.edu for support.

Why am I missing classes?

There are several reasons why classes may be missing. Some of the most common causes are listed below.

Common causes for missing classes:

  • You may be viewing a different quarter on EEE — Switch Quarters
  • Students: You may not be officially enrolled in the class — Student Access
  • Assistants: Your instructor may not have added you in Assistants — Learn More
  • Instructors: Your Department Scheduler may have not added you to the Registrar's Electronic Schedule of Classes (eSOC)
